Modern storage space in a factory building

Our project in Braunschweig demonstrates that monument protection is not an obstacle to modern conversion. Here aurelis converted a former locomotive repair shop into a modern high-bay warehouse with approximately 13,000 m² of space for the Westermann schoolbook publisher. Storage space was created for 30,000 pallets at up to 14 meters stacking height. The floor needed to have maximum flatness for the ground conveyors and to withstand a point load of 10 tons. A system with 7000 sprinkler heads and a water storage with 1000 cubic meters capacity were installed in order to meet the specific fire protection requirements. The tenant decided in favour of this location because of the good traffic connection and aurelis' process flexibility: the building conversion and the design of the rental contract were jointly developed.
